US Midterm Elections 2022: America votes to determine who controls Congress.

The midterm elections in the United States are currently being counted.

Republicans are now leading in the contest for the US House, according to early polls.

In contrast, gaining control of the Senate required only one Democratic vote.

Republicans are vying for a congressional majority that would stymie President Joe Biden's plan for the next two years and clear the way for Donald Trump to reclaim the presidency.

Democrats currently control the Senate's 100 seats, and Vice President Kamala Harris has the ability to break any 50-50 ties.

Along with every House seat, 35 Senate seats and a dozen governorships are on the ballot.

The final results of the congressional races are unlikely to be known for some time. According to data from the U.S. Election Project, more than 46 million Americans voted ahead of Election Day

Either by mail or in person, and state election authorities warn that tallying those ballots will take time.

The campaign for US Congress remains tense, with the Senate still up for grabs and Republicans expected to secure a small majority in the House.
