Elon Musk's microblogging service is starting on a harsh austerity programme to save costs.
Nearly a week after billionaire Tesla (TSLA) CEO Elon Musk took control, the social network is ushering in a new era with a cost-cutting plan as the new owner explores new revenue streams to modernise the platform.
The firm's 7,500 employees received an internal email alerting them that they will receive an email about their jobs on Friday, November 4.
According to the document acquired by TheStreet, the email will arrive about 9 a.m. PT. The headquarters of Twitter are in San Francisco.
"In order to put Twitter back on track, we will begin the arduous process of reducing our global workforce on Friday," the business wrote.
"We know that this will have an impact on a number of people who have made significant contributions to Twitter."
"This step is sadly required to ensure the company's success moving forward," the Management continued.
"Because of the nature of our distributed workforce and our aim to notify impacted persons as soon as feasible, communications for this procedure will be conducted by email."
